The house moves through the garden like a stream, gathering in quiet eddies where life slows and rests. The architecture is formed from solid blocks of rammed earth, plaster and timber, carved out to create the more private spaces. Between them, timber-framed glazing stretches open to create spaces of more active living and transition, light, and outlook. A layered arrangement of low flat roofs rests lightly above these walls. Stepped cedar fascias soften the edges, while broad eaves reach out over terraces of stone paving, allowing the house to drift gently into the garden. Inside, the rooms are arranged informally. The plan moves easily from generous, open spaces to quieter rooms that feel warm, soft and enclosing. A family house of substance and ease. Grounded, textured and made for the simple pleasure of living well.
