Stringer House

This house is the result of an intense collaboration with the sculptor client whose work is concerned with perception, duality and illusions of scale and form. The house comprises a number of illusionary “moves”: a central tower is turned 45 degrees to the body of the house, its top plane tipped, and windows and cladding scaled so as to appear much larger, the interior plan is re-configurable by moving walls to create new spaces and reveal trompe l’oeil frescos. Tipped precast concrete panels enfold one side and give way on the other to orthogonal walls and a more domestic arrangement of elements.
